I remember once Caramia told me that there are more Indonesians in Florence, she saw some of them and was being told by one of them that KBRI (Indonesian Consulate) would be opened up a new office in Florence. I was excited for a while, but then I could not get any further information on this good news. Once I was in Rome for some reasons at the Indonesian Embassy in Rome. I specially asked the officer about this matter and he said, KBRI only opened at some spots within reaching distance of the areas. Since Tuscan region located near Milan, there was no way KBRI would open an office in Florence. Indonesians who live in Florence or Tuscan can go to Milan or Rome for immigration or visa services. Nice enough, the officer also gave me two mobile numbers of Indonesians who live in Florence.

One thing about living in Florence is that most people I knew and got connected with are mostly visitors. They are only in Florence for some certain period of times and for different purposes, some for study, for work, for certain events and mostly came as tourists.

I’ve been thinking to write and update this blog for these last two months, but somehow I found it hard to put aside sometimes to just start writing. I think I’ve spent or wasted too much time sitting in front of my computer, thinking to start writing, but instead of doing so, I was just roaming around checking some websites, checking my social networks, watching some music videos on Youtube, a few here and a few there ….all those somewhat brought no positive result and at the end just frustrated me. It’s a proof of how difficult and how bad I am in coordinating my will and my thought with my body and to bring them all together into actually doing some necessary actions.

How long does the process of PdiS?

The length of the process of PdiS seems to be varied, some can get it in 4 weeks, some in 2 months, most people get it in 1 year or more. When you are submitting your application, ask the officer, how long will it take to process your PdiS. He/she will say you may come back in 2 weeks, but don’t be surprised because often when you go back after 2 weeks, your file will probably remain untouched or simply stacked on his shelf. 

The key is to be patient, keep smiling, and speak/ask the officer politely. Keep asking when can you have your PdiS ready? Ask for a certain date and timing.

How to Get the Italian Stay Permit / Permesso di Soggiorno for an EU citizen's spouse?

You are a non EU citizen and your spouse is an EU citizen who lives and works in Italy. After your husband received his Carta d'Identita, now it’s your turn to get your Stay Permit / Permesso di Soggiorno.

Step 1
Once your husband has done step 4 (on previous post, that was iscriversi all'Anagrafe to register himself at the Registry office / Uffizzi d'Anagrafe), after 10 days, he should be registered in the database of Uffizzi d'Anagrafe/Registry office already, means you should also be registered as his wife. So you can go to the Registry office to get your Stata di Famiglia. It’s a statement letter issued by Registry office states that you are his wife and you are in Italy for family reason.
