My 3 Favorite Parks in Florence

The outdoors refreshes and energizes! Keep close to nature's heart!
There is pleasure in the pathless woods. In every walk with nature one receives more than he seeks.
The lack of power to take joy in outdoor nature is as real a misfortune as the lack of power to take joy in books.

1. Le Cascine

open-air market at Le Cascine every Tuesday
The largest park in Florence: wanted by the Medici family as a hunting reserve , It covers an area of 118 hectares between the Arno and Mugnone.
Today it is used by the Florentines for jogging, cycling or rollerblading, or just lying down on a lawn to sunbathe. On Tuesday there is a large open-air market with all kinds of stands.

2. Public Park vialle dei Cipressi

Parco pubblico near Porta Romana

This public park open everyday for public from morning to evening. Many Florentines use this park for different activities: jogging, walking, cycling, playing, sunbathing and dog walking. The park has a playground where kids can play.
It is also where a university 'Liceo Artistico Statale di Porta Romana e Sesto Fiorentino' located. The park usually very busy during summer or during sunny days in cold seasons.
For me, it's more for practical reasons, it's the nearest park to our house but also a shortcut to get to Porta Romana and back.

3. Park at Lungarno del Tempio

This is the view you see when you are sitting and having your cup of coffee from this riverside park

It is a good place for cycling, jogging, sunbathing, reading and drinking coffee! There's a coffee shop in the park provides some chairs and tables on the river bank. Buy a cup of coffee, bring your book to read, sit on one of the chair facing the river with the warmth of sunbeams on you. The feeling is like magic! Loving it!
