How to Get the Italian Codice Fiscale?

You can obtain your Codice Fiscale at the provincial tax office in Florence:

Direzione Provinciale
Via Santa Caterina D'Alessandria, 23
Phone: 055/505141
Email: dp.firenze.utfirenze1@agenziaentrate.it
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:40 - 12:40; Tuesday and Thursday also 2:20 - 3:40

You need your passport and a copy of all the documents of your husband as proof that he’s sponsoring you.
Ask for a Codice Fiscale form and take a number from the front desk.

Fill out the form (personal and address information). The form is all in Italian so bring an Italian dictionary or ask the officer at the front desk if you don't understand!
When your number is called on screen, go to the room on the left (follow the sign or others who are also waiting for their turn) where officers on duties are on their desk, go to the appointed desk for you, give your form and copies of your passport, keep the rest of the documents and SHOW them to the officer only if they ask. Make sure you keep all of your original documents.

You will get a a piece of officially stamped paper with your number/Codice fiscale, make sure they have your name written/stated right the same with your name on your passport (your tax code should start with some letters of your last name, -they misplaced my first name with my last name, so I had to wait for a new Codice Fiscale- which took another month to process).

Ask for a card version, the card will be delivered to your house by mail about 2 weeks later. To make sure it arrives at your post box, you need to make sure your name is written at your doorbell.
